Wow, what a day!
We began our day today with a devotional time with the ADP staff, which was
to be the last time we saw them. We began by sharing our thoughts and a
word or image that summed up the trip, a very difficult task to do when we
have experienced and learnt so much. After this, and a short talk from
Medenekia the ADP staff prayed for us, before Buba and Abera the pastors we
first met a week ago shared with us a couple of verses for us and our
churches back home. This whole time was a truly moving experience, and
perhaps then, more than any other time on our trip we felt as one body
blessed to have spent a short time together, encouraged by each others
prescence, a beautiful moment.
We were then fortunate enough to visit a primary school supported by World
Vision that has 1875 students ranging from 7 to 18 and were able to do a
small activity with one of the classes. It was a relaxed time and really
great to be able to share and speak with the students.
We were then wisked off to Merkato market which is the key market with
people trading from all over Ethiopia. The number of people and the bustle
and hum was amazing, not least seeing our fantastic bus driver navigate the
thin bustling streets. We were dropped off at a smaller, less intimidating
market where we managed a bit of shopping for gifts and items to take home.
We had a late lunch at the Top View restaurant which must have once had a
panoramic view of Addis, but whose view is now slightly obscured by two
large tower blocks. Still it was still a wonderful view and a wonderful
meal with Bekako Duguma the Operations and Christian Commitments Director
(World Vision Ethiopia).
